Junior UX/ Product Designer.
I did a 3 month UX Design Internship where I owned a number of projects which I worked on from user journey mapping and wireframing, to high fidelity prototypes on Figma.
I am currently a Volunteer UX Designer at Connected to Culture. Our travel app connects travellers to cultural experiences in our partner countries in Africa.
As a Nurse I am interested in Health Technology. In this project I did a Redesign of the Blood Glucose App, "Zoe".
Many apps we use are highly personalised, recommending things we might like. I'm excited that we can create highly personalised experiences, adapting to users specfic needs. I think it is the extra touch that makes users feel at home when interacting with the interface.
These have grown a lot since the Facebook "Like" button! I love how micro interactions can make experieces more enjoyabe and . Duolingo demonstrate this beautifully with it's colourful confetti explosions which provide feelings of suprise and delight which is rewarding and evokes positive emotions for the user.
Clean user interfaces are pleasing and flat designs have been popular. Now we are seeing small elements that stand out added to these which adds a touch of the unexpected which sparks users interest! I think it is a great example of adding a fresh touch to a minimalistic design and increasing engagement with the user.
My journey into UX design started with learning about human behaviour and cognition during my psychology degree. I initially found my professional calling in healthcare as a nurse, where I developed strong empathy and communication skills. After 6 years working in the NHS including through the pandemic, I experienced an overwhelming burn
My journey into UX design started with learning about human behaviour and cognition during my psychology degree. I initially found my professional calling in healthcare as a nurse, where I developed strong empathy and communication skills. After 6 years working in the NHS including through the pandemic, I experienced an overwhelming burnout and decided to use my transferable skills to transition to a career in UX design.
I think my diverse background gives me a brilliant understanding of users’ needs and cognitive processes as well as the ability to take a holistic approach to design. I think great design comes from creating interfaces which consider users’ motivations and emotions. My goal is to guide the user through their journey, showing them their way round in a way that makes sense to them.
When I'm not thinking about design you will find me doing Skipping routines or Olympic Weightlifting. Both bring me joy, keep me fit and strong, and teach me that doing something right takes time, so trust the process.
I also enjoy Backpacking as I love meeting new people from all over
the world and experiencing different places and cultures.
